Hill City’s Vision
This is Where
Hope Lives.
Our Story
Since 2022, we’ve been gathering to help people find hope and keep it.
When our community began gathering in 2022, we found inspiration in studying Jesus’ life and His deep investment in His disciples. One truth stood out: the transformative power of relationships. We believe true hope is found in a relationship with Jesus, and this hope shapes how we connect with others, building a community rooted in trust, growth, and genuine care.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Hill City Church was born out of a desire to be a light in our world, a city of hope that cannot be hidden. Inspired by Matthew 5:14-16, we believe that Jesus calls us to be His light in our neighborhood of Papeton and throughout Colorado Springs. Just as a city on a hill shines for all to see, we aim to reflect Jesus’ love, hope, and truth in a way that draws others in.
Our mission is rooted in building authentic relationships with Jesus and with one another. We believe that hope and transformation are found in growing as disciples of Jesus—walking alongside Him and each other. As we grow in faith, we are compelled to reach outward, bringing hope, compassion, and restoration to our community.
At Hill City, we are committed to being a place where people can find belonging, purpose, and a renewed sense of life in Jesus. We invite you to join us as we seek to be a light on the hill, making God’s love known and experienced right here in our city.
The best way to get to know Hill City, who we are, what we are trying to accomplish, and how to get involved in our church family is to work your way through Culture Courses. These courses are designed to help you grow as a disciple and embrace Jesus’ way of being the church.

Our Values
In pursuit of Hill City’s Vision, we desire to be a church and a people that embody these characteristics.
A Gospel-Saturated Church
Gospel means “good news.” Through faith in Jesus, sins can be forgiven, and new life can be experienced. The gospel is the central message of the Bible and every ministry of our church. We desire to be marked by a permeation of the gospel in every aspect of our Church and hearts.
A Praying Church
Prayer is the foundation of our relationship with God and an essential expression of our faith. We seek God’s presence, wisdom, and guidance through heartfelt prayer in every ministry and gathering. A prayerful life aligns our hearts with His purposes, empowers our community, and opens the door for God’s work in and through us.

A Jesus-Loving Church
Our deepest desire is to love Jesus with all our hearts, minds, and strength. As our Savior and Lord, our love for Him shapes every aspect of our lives. We strive to follow Him wholeheartedly, allowing His love to transform us and embodying His compassion, humility, and grace in all our relationships.
A Hope-Filled Church
In a world filled with uncertainty, we are called to be a beacon of hope. Our hope is rooted in God’s promises and the resurrection of Jesus, assuring us that no situation is beyond redemption. As a hope-filled church, we share this hope, encouraging one another to trust in God’s faithfulness.

A Disciple-Growing Church
As a growing church, we believe faith is a vibrant journey of discovery and transformation. We nurture spiritual growth as a community, encouraging deeper trust in Jesus. By cultivating true discipleship, we empower individuals to take bold steps in faith, embrace challenges, and help others grow, reflecting Christ’s love and grace.
A Relational Church
We are a unified and pursuing church, committed to fostering relationships rooted in Christ. We fight for unity, valuing each person as Jesus does. Together, we celebrate and support one another in faith, creating an environment where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to grow in Christ.

Our Beliefs
These are our essential beliefs that we hold as a church and that are foundational to following Jesus.
Jesus, the Son
Jesus Christ is entirely human and entirely God. He was born of a virgin mother as the Son of God, whose purpose was to bring God’s people back into a relationship with Him. Jesus, the eternal Son of God, exists uncreated and is equal in deity with the Father and the Holy Spirit. The promised and prophesied Messiah is the Word that became flesh and made His dwelling among us. He lived a perfect, sinless life so that He could become the prefect sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sin. His resurrection defeated death and gives us the opportunity to have a new life.

God, the Father
God is our Heavenly Father. He is great, all-knowing, all-powerful, omni-present, unchanging, faithful, and above all, Holy. God is good. We depend on Him for all that we have and all that we are, and we can trust Him to be faithful to the promises He makes to His people.

Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit lives inside all believers. He is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force. The Spirit has a mind, emotions, and a will. He teaches, testifies, leads, and intercedes. He directs, prompts, sends, and gifts the people of God. He leads us into all truth and makes us more like Jesus Christ.
Mark 1:10 Luke 1:35; 4:1; 11:13; 12:12 John 15:26; 16:7-14 Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 13:2 Romans 8:9-11, 14-16, 26-27 1 Corinthians 3:16 Ephesians 1:13-14 2 Peter 1:2 Revelation 22:17
Humanity
God created mankind in His image and as the masterpiece of His creation. Mankind was intended to have an unbridled relationship with God but became separated from Him through sinful disobedience. As a result, mankind cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort, thus presenting the need for Jesus. Each person is uniquely created, called to a meaningful purpose, and perfectly loved and forgiven by God through Jesus.
Genesis 1:26-30; 2:7, 18-22; 3 Psalms 8:3-6; 32:1-5; 51:5 Isaiah 6:5 Jeremiah 17:5 Acts 17:26-31 Romans 1:19-32; 3:10-18, 23; 5:6; 6:6; 7:14-25 1 Corinthians 1:21-31; 15:19, 21-22 Ephesians 2 Colossians 1:21-22; 3:9-11
Salvation & Life
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin and restoration back to God. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. It secures our eternity and begins a new life as a new creation.

The Church
The Church is a local community of believers unified through faith in Jesus. It is committed to teaching the commands of Jesus, equipping individuals with the necessary tools to obey God, and empowering them to share the Gospel with the world. It is God’s plan for hope to be restored in people and in communities.
God promises when two or three are gathered, He is present among us in a special way. The church gathers to accomplish three important functions: worship, discipleship, and evangelism in relationship with each other.
Matthew 16:18-19; 18:15-20 Acts 2:41-47; 5:11-14; 13:1-3; 14:23; 16:5; 20:28 1 Corinthians 7:17; 9:13-14; 12 Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:10-12; 5:22-32 Colossians 1:18; 3:15 1 Timothy 4:14 1 Peter 5:1-4 Revelation 21:2-3
The Word of God
The Bible is the recorded Word of God to all people. It was written by people under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. The original written books and letters are inspired by God, true, without error, and relevant and applicable to our lives today.
Matthew 22:29 John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17 Romans 15:4 2 Timothy 3:15-17 Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12 1 Peter 1:25 2 Peter 3:16
Eternal Security
Because God gives eternal life through Jesus Christ, believers are secure in their salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by a Christian’s self-effort. It is the grace and eternal power of God that gives this security. We are assured of our salvation based on the character of God who can never lie.
John 10:29 2 Timothy 1:12 Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 10:10-14 1 Peter 1:3-5
Non-Essential Beliefts
We believe that there are essential and non-essential theological beliefs to our saving faith. Our primary beliefs are essential and align our unity as the Church. Some other beliefs are important, but not essential. In these beliefs, we have liberty and choose not to divide, but instead, show love and humility to those we disagree with.
